Tony Saunders has served as HIS Canada Holdings Inc., the holding company of Travelbrands , esteemed Chief Financial Officer (CFO) since October 2014, amassing an impressive tenure of over 25 years within the company. In this crucial role, he oversees and shapes the company’s strategic direction and holds a comprehensive portfolio of financial responsibilities, including financial reporting, budgeting, planning, cash flow management, treasury operations, taxation, and controller operations.
Tony brings to the table a wealth of expertise, particularly in the realms of mergers and acquisitions. His leadership has been instrumental in orchestrating several acquisitions of companies now operating under the umbrella of H.I.S. Canada Holdings Inc. Notably, Tony has also navigated the complex terrain of insolvency, showcasing his adeptness in successfully guiding the company through the “CCAA” (Companies’ Creditors Arrangement Act) process. Remarkably, this journey had no detrimental impact on TravelBrands’ valued customers, as the company continued to operate smoothly, generating positive cash flows throughout the process. Prior to joining H.I.S , Tony honed his financial acumen through senior roles at prominent organizations such as Business Travel International (BTI Inc.), HRG, and Ernst and Young. Beyond his corporate endeavours, Tony’s passion for knowledge led him to impart his expertise as an educator, where he taught accounting at Toronto Metropolitan University. Tony’s academic credentials are equally noteworthy, as he holds a Bachelor of Commerce Degree from the University of Guelph, with a specialization in Hotel and Food Administration. Moreover, he holds esteemed professional designations as both a Chartered Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant.
